Lets begin.
Remember to save often!
Open a 600 x 700 transparent canvas. Change your
foreground colour to white. Select your flood fill tool
and flood fill this layer white.
Open the document folder supplied with this tutorial.
Right click/Copy. Return to your working canvas, right
click/paste as a new layer. Duplicate this folder layer.
HIDE this duplicate layer.
With the ORIGINAL document folder layer active, go to
Selections/Select All. Selections/Modify/Expand: 1.
Selections/Defloat. Open one of your papers/textures of
choice. Change your foreground colour to this
paper/texture by clicking on the pattern tab and locating
it.
Select your flood fill tool and flood fill this selection.
Keep Selected.
UNHIDE your duplicate document folder and activate this
layer.
Open the other paper/texture of choice. Change your
foreground colour to this paper/texture by clicking on the
pattern tab and locating it.
Selecting your flood fill tool again, flood fill this
duplicate document folder with this paper/texture.
Selections/Select None.
Select your deform tool and slightly swivel your top
document folder slightly left or right.
Open the lined paper supplied with this tutorial. Right
click/Copy your paper. Return to your working canvas.
Right click/paste as a new layer. Duplicate the lined
paper. On your layer palette, drag 1 piece of paper so it
is sitting between your white background layer and your
bottom document folder. Drag the 2nd piece of paper so it
is sitting between your bottom document folder and top
document folder.
Select your deform tool and swivel/move each paper layer.
Please refer to above sample for guidance. If there is any
pieces of paper over hanging at the bottom of the document
folders, activate those layers on your layer palette, then
select your eraser tool and erase away the excess.
Add a large/Blurry drop shadow of your choice to the 2
document folders and your 2 pieces of paper (like always,
I prefer to use Alien Skin/Impact/Perspective Shadow/Drop
Shadow, Lowest. This of course is completely optional and
may be achieved with your regular drop shadow).
Select your font tool and write whatever you like on the
top portion of your paper (as this is the only part that
can be seen).
Add any embellishments you desire. I went nuts. lol! I
chose one that also had a band/ribbon/belt that could be
rotated the same direction as the top document folder. Add
the same large/blurry drop shadow you've been using to all
embellishment layers.
Open your image of choice. Resize if necessary by going to
Image/Resize. Please make sure Smart Size is selected.
Adjust/Sharpness/Sharpen.
Go to Image/Add Border/Size: 1/Colour: Black. Repeat
border but change the size: 10/Colour: white. Right
click/copy. Set aside, we will go back to this.
Return to your working canvas, right click/paste as a new
layer. Over on your layer palette, drag this so it sits
between your top document folder layer and your
band/ribbon/belt layer.
Select your deform tool and slightly swivel your image.
Add the same large/blurry drop shadow.
Return to your image that you set aside. Go to Effects/Plugins/Optik
Verve Labs/Virtual Photographer and apply the default
sepia tone.
Right click/Copy image. Return to your working canvas.
Right click/paste as a new layer. Over on your layer
palette drag this sepia image so it sits between your top
document folder and your first image layer. Again select
your deform tool and slightly swivel your image. Add the
same large/blurry drop shadow.
Add your name.
Add your © copyright information, license number if
applicable and your watermark.
We're done.
